HALLOWEEEEEN

Halloween is not a Danish thing. We never did Halloween before.....yet this year it's all over the country. Schools, kindergarten etc.

Well last year we held a Halloween Party:

::Preparations::

The invites were made by my son and I. He drew a bat, that was the overall theme of....everything. The addresses were written on the belly - of they went and of we were to make the Pumpkin Piñata.

It turned out like this.....

Img_3333

....before it was beaten to death, with swords by a bunch of very happy kids!

::Let the Fun Continue::

We started with *Biscuit Decorations* aka decorating biscuits, with frosting and candy - very popular.

Img_3319jpg2

Then it was time for *Biting the Spider* aka eating a string of candy, with a spider at the bottom. Who gets to the spider first?

Img_3327jpg2

Then I had made a box, where the kids had to stick their hands inside and feel what I had put in there - that was so much funnnnn - cooked spaghetti in water, hand lotion and they were THRILLED!

::The Food::

We had a WONDERFUL pumpkin soup with bacon and loafs of bread. Yummy! The adults were EXITED!

For dessert the kids had a bag of candy:

Some of the kids were dressed up:

Img_3331jpg2

Even some of the grownups....well OK only my Grandma!

W.I.P.

Img_7016jpg2

I'm making one more cat. For fun. And for the love of this fabric. I thrifted it a while back. It's bed linen. I want to use it for a scarf as well. Mix it up with some thrifted yarn. Maybe in the line of this.

Img_7022jpg2

To wear with this coat I recently thrifted. $ 8,- I love the color. I just had to remove the shoulder pads. Maybe I'll lift the shoulder seam abit.

Img_7003jpg2_1

I also thrifted these "ZOO" pants for my son's birthday. Have to shorten them abit. I got him a black shirt to go with them. He didn't like it. Then I got this transfer from Shannon. She send me some cool fabric, that I decided would look good with the transfer. He doesn't like it.

Img_6994jpg2

My daughter loves the transfer. Will make something for her in stead.

I bought me some Christmas Cards from Shannon's Etsy Shop. Don't know if I'll send them anywhere. As you might have noticed - I LOVE HER LITTLE CREATURES!

Img_7001jpg2

She even sent me some extras!

Magazine Swap 2+3

Img_7026jpg2 Img_7028jpg2

My Magazine Frenzy is (sadly) over. My last bash was from Alexa of Lille Hus - an on-line shop, selling great Scandinavian stuff, like this little pot and stainless steel kitchen unit. Which - by the way - is VERY popular around these parts of the world!

12large 6large

Check out how cute she looks too ;o) And I'll meet her! Early next year she's coming to Denmark to shop for her shop!

Anyway....she send me *Blueprint* + *Domino* and *Real Simple* and I just love all of them!

In return I send her Isabellas, Boligmagasinet and Boligliv. The same package will go to Annu (DO NOT scroll down to see photo of me looking VERY pregnant, when we met in August - y'all know I'm not pregnant) in Finland, who ALSO has an on-line shop + real life shop, selling Scandinavian stuff! Here she is (to the right) with her sweet sister Liinu.

OK...so in return she is sending me these.....need I say more?

Check them all out here. Maybe I'll show MY collection soon?

Jennifer

When I was a kid, my Grandpa had a colleague and friend in New Jersey. One summer he and his family came to visit Denmark and I got to met them too. They had a boy my age and a daughter a few years older, who came over for Danish pancakes - they're more like crepes!

Mao_pic_1160590068 Jolly20roger_pic_1160057455

The girl - Jennifer - and I became pen pals and I wrote her letters with help from my Dad's sister, since I didn't speak English! We always wrote about me visiting them and in the summer of 1989 - when I was 14 - I went on my first trip to the U.S. It was my first flight EVER and I was 14 and I went by myself!! Can you believe it??? Anyway....I had a great time!

After wards, the years went by and we lost contact. In my mid twenties (I think) I met her Dad again. He was visiting my Grandparents. He told me that Jennifer was a law student. Later on I learned she got married, gotten a new last name and lived in Paris.

Then one day about 6 months ago I was reading this press piece at Genius Jones - don't ask why I do that - and the writers name popped out of the screen!!! Hmmmm....can't be THAT Jennifer Cattaui? The Lawyer? I Googled her and found out she has a blog and even a super cool on-line shop - Babesta! I immediately contacted her and got a little update. How much fun is that. We are both Moms, we share a common sense of style - what's more to know? Oh I can tell you this: She's still a Rock Chick! She'll always be a Rock Chick to me ;o)

Mommy_and_i_1

All the t-shirt's are from her shop - I  L O V E  prints like these. All these I want for my kids ;o)

She also sells bedding, furniture and other GREAT stuff. Check it out!

More Babes on the Way

Img_6962jpg2 Img_6965jpg2

Well no babies for me at this point! One of my girlfriends are having a baby boy in January, so I made her this Earth Quilt to frame and a cat with an attached mouse!

I have some W.I.P. here.

Fall Break

My son is on Fall Break this week, which means I have both kids at home. Tomorrow we'll take his best friend to the Experimentarium to see the dinosaurs - yay - he loves them, he wants to be a palaeontologist when he grows up! He wants me to turn one of his dinosaurs into a stuffie, but I would rather make him a t-shirt like this!

Img_6778 Img_6795

Right now they're watching "Brother Bear 2," they need some down time after a busy weekend. I - on the other hand - didn't get busy at all, with them out of the house. I had a couch day. Felt sick. I did manage to update my blog as I had intended to, but no crafting.

THANK YOU for all the comments regarding blogging/kids. As you can see I have mellowed out a bit. I DON'T feel my kids are in danger, but I will be cautious of the kind of pics I show. The kids are a part of me and my life and will HAVE to be around the blog too - as this is ME! I thought about all your comments, browsed your blogs and ended up with the decision, that we all have to be here, right? Sorry to come across so hesitant - my Zodiac sign IS Libra! See for your self under: "On the dark side...." ;o)

This means my birthday is coming up soon.....whoo hoo....and I sure wish I was in Sydney that day. My all time favorite band - LIVE - will be playing and they just ROCK! I went to see them here in June with my brother and it was such a love fest. Intense. Rocking. G R E A T.

Go see them.

Thinking.....

Img_6477

Stephanie's decision to exclude her kids from her Blog, really scared me and made me think - A LOT - so my husband and I have been doing - A LOT - of talking about this. We have decided that, I'm gonna erase the kids (and my husband's) names from the Blog (hopefully DONE!) and not use the kids here any more. The photos that are already here, will remain. What are your thoughts on this subject? I know others have worried.

Look at us.....thinking...in Paris....sigh.......

Img_6638

So you'll see lots more of this guy here instead! (Kidding.)

Other than updating my Blog this weekend, I will have some time to craft, since my husband will take the kids and his sister to visit a friend. I certainly have - A LOT - of projects to finish and hopefully there will be photos for W.I.P. and for the Work Done category!

Oh....I also need to catch up on Blogs a bit too, cause our Internet has been down again and this time it took the phone along with it!!! Darn....

Craft Room Lost

I've lost my Craft Room :o(

The kids have taken over the entire room and I have been thrown out! Now I have stuffed my goodies in all kinds of places around the house.

Img_6926jpg_lys Img_6928jpg_lys

We have 2 old trunks in our dining room/kitchen, that I got from my Grandparents, they now hold all my fabric.

Inside the chalkboard closet, I have my sewing machines, buttons, paper, craft books (I don't have that many, now do I?), various paper, scissors and other "stuff."

Underneath the windows (still the dining room/kitchen area) we have 2 IKEA PS cabinets, which have locks that comes in handy, as I keep paint, finished products and other stuff to *Keep Away from Children.*

Sneak Peak.

Manda's Corner:

Img_6285jpg_lys_1 Img_6698jpg_lys

Img_6702jpg_lys

Please notice this W O N D E R F U L quilt, that Manda made for my husband and I for our wedding. I SO SO treasure it. She's just amazingly talented.

And then there's my Knitting Area (scroll down). Inside the chest of drawers I have my yarn, knitting needles, stuffing etc.

Well that's my *Studio.* I seem to get a little done once in a while though. Here's my W.I.P. at the moment, with my newest possession: A Danish-English dictionary. Finally. I'm making a pattern with instructions for a project I got involved with, so I SERIOUSLY needed it.

Magazine Swap # ONE

Img_6905

I'm in the middle of a Magazine Swap Frenzy! A few weeks ago, Yvonne and I decided to do a magazine swap, since I took her up on her suggestion. And look what lovelies I got:

All interior decorating - All GREAT.

Img_6908 Img_6910

Img_6914 Img_6912

These photos are all from Ariadne at Home Kinderen - very inspiring, huh?

I love all the cool ways they've used wallpaper. Check out the *Retro House.* (Below)

Img_6909

I think these pillows (below) are real sweet - and quite easy to copy!

Img_6915_1

Well...all this inspiration comes in quite handy, because we have decided that we want the kids out of our bedroom and in to a (new) bedroom of their own. We have the (almost) done playroom downstairs and a family bedroom upstairs. That will be the Kids bedroom and our "closet room" will be our new Parent bedroom - sigh - closets will go downstairs in mud/washroom. This is a huge project, but I hope we will be done before 2007!

More Magazine Swaps to come.....

Draw, Drew, Drawings

Img_6895

I like drawing this girl. I don't know who she is - got any suggestions?

I'm very into naive drawings like this. Mine could have been drawn buy any kid though ;o) The ones with various cut out paper dresses, are totally "stolen" from my funny friend Shannon!

I don't know what *My Girls* are up to, but I feel they have snook up on me and there will be more of them. They are very vivid in my mind!

Img_6891

These were drawn by my son. He made more than these. They all say his name with an arrow pointing at the dinosaur. Should I worry?

;o)
