Blog Love

23f

Three week ago, we had a visit from 3 wonderful people.

Mette and I had been writing back and forth a bit and when she told me, they were going to the Roskilde Festival - in pouring rain - I invited them to drop by. And they did! Mette and John are such an awesome couple and their little guy Seth, is soooo sweet! Thanks for your visit - please return soon!

Mette works with ceramics and textiles - check out her fantastic baby pants! She has submitted these to one in ten.

More Blog Love:

Elisabeth Dunker's fine little day is my absolute favorite at the moment. I just love her style and her work. More of her at flickr.

These 2 Blogs - Liivian talossa and puhti  - are only in Finnish, but have gorgeous photo's. Definately worth checking out!

Kids Rooms a la karkovski

Img_0884

This is a corner of my sons room. I love the furniture: The old dog-hair-cutting-table (yes we have 2 of them), the old chair that came along with the tables, the IKEA PS cabinet and the thrifted toys. This I found on the desk. The very white wall will (eventually) be covered, with the Garfield wallpaper I've had laying around since March!

For even longer, I've had this floral wallpaper laying around for my daughter. It won't go on this - very white - wall above, but in the opposite end of the room. She had Barbapapa above her headboard for a day, but since our walls are very rough, it wouldn't stick! I'll put it back up, when I get around to wallpapering. The bed used to be our sons and after a few coats of pink: It's super girly! At the end of her bed, she has a Pippi doll house. Gotta love Pippi.

Holidaying

09072007002

We've been on vacation in Copenhagen this week, living in my brothers apartment while they where in Greece. We've had the greatest time, touring the canals and visiting the zoo, where my daughter had her first horse back ride - she loved it!

Havnetur

We've had breakfast at the most cozy little bakery/café, sitting outside sheltered from the rain, with blankets (and my poncho) wrapped around the kids. That morning was all the rain we had - thank you very much!

We also went to the zoological museum, where my daughter screamed as soon as we entered and she saw the huge Dino (below). She and I spent the rest of the time in their café. When we went to the geological museum, same thing happened, only this time she screamed because of the darkness in the hall, so she and I went to the Castle Gardens instead.

Next week we will go with my brother, his girlfriend and their one year old son, to a summerhouse to hang out and enjoy each other, good food and great laughs.

Since this is "Family Holidaying Time", I will be pretty much off the computer for the next few weeks, but now you know where I am!

Happy Holidays everybody!!!

Crafty Wishes

I thought it was time to catch up on the Danish parenting-magazine-scene. As I haven't bought these for a while, I thought I would see if they had some new designers for fun toys, interiors or funky clothes, but to my huge disappointment there was nothing new to report, apparently. Instead I enjoyed my "koldskål" with "kammerjunkere" and my daughters art.

The kids were both home today, so we had some "slow time" and a little crafting going on. My son has asked me for the longest time, to sew him something, so after he saw the Bunny Bed Bag - he was sold! That's what he wanted, except for a little twist and turn, here and there!

Img_0769

He surely has an opinion for everything! Of course the overall look of fabric, animal and style but also, he made it very clear, that he wanted me to use the right color thread. What type of handles the bag should have, which he thought hard about and wavered between a few options! The size of the pocket inside. The size of the beak on the penguin. The shape of the FEET of the penguin. And so forth. Phew. At one point Mommy wasn't having that much fun!

Img_0785

We worked around a penguin - the one to the far right - from an old MS Kids magazine and even though I had some similar fabric, the boy said "dark blue, orange beak and feet and white belly!" For the bag he was very excited to see that, I had both dark and light blue Rasmus Klump fabric. The light one went for the bag and the dark for the pillow and quilt inside.

Now he's on to fish for the penguin, but that'll be another day......they will be orange, he said....right now my husband is tucking both kids in and I like that.....

Craft Room Visit

We have lived in this house, for  little over 3 years now and my craft room has moved around quite a bit. I started in this room, which is downstairs and served as our bedroom when we first moved in. When upstairs had a bedroom, the kids and shared the room downstairs, until they took over the entire room and I was left to find other solutions, around the house.

Now that we finally have our own space to sleep in and the kids have their own rooms upstairs, I have moved back into the first craft room I had, BUT I still have to share it! This time I share it with the whole Family's clothes, as we are planning for it to fit into our mudroom (in the making), later this year. Wouldn't it be nice to have all the clothes right next to the washer? And right next to the bathroom? I think so.....

So here are some corners of my craft room at the moment:

Bunny Bed Bag

Img_0730

Dull wrapping paper sure gets more festive with a card from Rosa!

We're going to a little girls Birthday Party today and I decided, that she was getting the bunny I made for Softies, since my daughter loves hers so much. I made a tiny *Bed Bag* for it and a pillow and blanket. I like how it turned out.
