W.I.P.

Img_1130

Work in progress for the superswap! I'm in. I've (finally) used some of the freezer paper, which Tracy sent me a loooong time ago. I'm making a softie Sonic and a tiny Lucky Luke pillow for 2 French boys. Afterwords it'll be time to make something for their Mama.....

Some elephants for my etsy shop. Dawn just sent us the LOVELIEST package, which I will share with you next week, but for now: She sent along some vintage papers, that immediately inspired me to make these!

(The top right one, is wallpaper from Rebecca though and the bottom left, is wallpaper for my daughters room!)

Thrifting and Collecting

Img_1015 Img_1017

I got this dress at a flea market a while back. It's from "Finnish Exclusive" made in Finland. I don't know anything about the age or the company, but I adore the dress. The color and pattern really speak to me. Now, the only problem is that it doesn't fit me! Gotta loose them last pounds before next Summer, I guess.....

My Smurfs! I've had these since I was a kid. I remember getting my first one from my Mom, one day when she came home from work. I love(ed) Smurfs - I even had Smurf wallpaper in my first room as a child.

My Funny Looking Kids

He lost his first tooth!

About time - he will be 7 in two weeks and all his class mates already have these huge teeth....can't wait to see the change it will bring. The new fangs.

And Miss Hootie-Pa-Tootie, trying to squirt me and my camera, with her squirt glasses!

The Last of the Moomins

Today was craft day. Made a new Moomin bag. Now I'm out of Moomin fabric.

More photo's here and here.

Available SOLD in my etsy shop.

Plastic Fantastic

Img_1026

I have a thing for little plastic characters. This is from the shelves in my daughters room. Barbapapas, an M&M's girl from a pack of M&M's, a thrifted Power Puff girl and Sesame Street lunch box and thermos, bought on ebay!

Snoopy is from McDonald's. He came in 3 Happy Meals 3 or 4 years ago. As you can see, he used to stand alone on my son's desk. No bird. But just the other day, we found the bird at the local indoor flea market. I was ECSTATIC! Oh and my son was pretty thrilled too ;o) See, I think mostly the "gifts" at McDonald's are crap (luckily we don't go there often - I really don't appreciate all the clutter of tiny crap toys), but once in a while I really love it. Like these Moomin cards......I say cool!

The lion poster is from MY room. It's from a play I went to see with my son, when he was all most 3. Lovely illustration.

Plans to be made/Work to be done

Img_1001

To brighten up my thoughts, the book came! I was so surprised to see that my bunny made the front page!! The book will be available August 13th. I will find out where before then.

I am in such good company. I am very honored to be among such people as:

They are just a few of the 14 designers from around the world, who have submitted patterns for this lovely book.

Take a peek inside here.

I want to thank you all, for taking the time to comment on my "troubled thoughts". I really appreciate your thoughts, suggestions and support and I know a lot of us are in the very same situation, so I wish you the best of luck as well.

I also want you to know, that we are not starving, without a roof over our heads or without clothing. The thing is that we downsized, when we chose for me to stay home with our daughter and now that we've been stretched for so long, we miss the luxuries of a car to get to visit friends and family. Finish our house, so we don't have to live in such disorder, as one does during house renovations. Travel to other countries. Go to museums, events, concerts, whatever. All this without having to "turn every penny".

As you can see, my troubles are very luxurious....

My plan is, here and now, to do various odd jobs to get us afloat.

While doing so, I will continue to craft and get my etsy shop running, for it to (later) turn into a regular on line shop, with other products than my own. I hope the new book and my participation in Plush You, will give me some notice aka more costumers ;o)

In the long run, I intend to try to do some interior styling for magazines. You see, some of the great advice I got in my last post, came from Sue:

I was totally in the same situation. Here is the advice that someone gave me. Take some time and really think back to your childhood. Start with your earliest memories and work your way through each year of your life. Remember times that made you happy. Think about what you were doing that made you happy. Keep going through the years and jot down on paper everything that made you feel glorious. There is a connection between those times.....and what inspires you today. It will come to you....it will....!

My happiest times were making houses for my Barbie dolls. I would knit, sew and collect odd things to make homes for them.

This advice will keep me thinking though....

Troubled Thinking

Img_0922

Making me very tired.

We can't continue to afford living on one income, now with both kids out of the house. I know I can't work full time. I just can't. I would miss my kids to much. And our house. Tracy just tried it and is happy not having to do so every day. But even part time makes me freak out, because what kind of job could I get? I don't have an education. I don't have much work experience. And I don't know what I would like to do! I know I love to craft and be creative, but with the above mentioned background? I just don't see a job title that fit. I'd love to work out of the house once in a while, meeting new people with same interests, working on shortish projects or something. Work from home some days. Freelance something? I wouldn't mind using tons of time in periods. As long as I could work from home some of the time. Anyway, my imagination is a little...blocked at the moment. Got any suggestions?

W.I.P. and lessons in how to draw odd animals

Img_0913

My son thought I needed lessons in how to draw odd animals. I had quite a good time, but never really was as good as him.

The giraffe and paper cuts, are for a swap with Dawn - yay!
