GREEN
I've gone green. I'm a bit obsessed these days about everything having to be organic and healthy. I subscribe to aarstiderne, which is a company who bring me organic fruits and vegetables once a week. My cupboards and fridge are packed with everything organic. I spend every dime coming into our household on GREEN. Must take it easy on that. No need obsessing.
How green are you?

I was so happy to find ecological meat in the big super market nearby yesterday. I try to buy eco-friendly products whenever I can, but my attitude is more relaxed than a few years ago. I am very concerned with the junk we produce and have big troubles throwing stuff away so I have a growing pile off stuff going to the flea-market someday. Crafting feels very green to me since it is a SLOW way of producing stuff.

Ret så grøn, vil jeg sige!
For meget, siger finansministeren her hjemme ind imellem...

Well not really dogmatic green but with two kids I want to have healthy food to eat. We also get once a week our ecological fruits and vegetables :) And Weleda is great! Anyway we are here in Germany at the source with so many good ecological cosmetic companys, like DR. Hauschka for example.

These vegetables look tasty. I try to buy organic food too but here in Madrid sometimes it is more expensive and difficult to find.

No obsession but...hoping to be more and more green and less and less "throwing away"...With kids(even grown-ups !) you have to repeat many times but it works ! Yours are still young, wish you they will learn easily and rapidly ! And thank you one day for being the good mother you are right now...green green green...a springtime color after all isn't it ?

We are pretty darn green over here! Lots of kale in our fridge. It does take more money, but I think it is worth it. Here in Canada you can buy straight from the distributers and farmers which can make a difference in cost.

I sure like reading about your going green. The more I read /hear about others doing it the more it encourages me to become greener myself. Sometimes I think we just don't know better how to do things so we continue the old way. Like, I use plastic bags for our groceries at the grocery store, I do reuse these for disposing of our trash and this is something I have to do - have our trash in some kind of closed container. I wish these didn't have to be plastic though. So far I dont' know a better way. I think we are fairly green though - we have made a conscious decision not to have a car and not to do cosmetic redecorating of our house. We also buy a great deal of our clothes at fleamarkets. I think it is a fun challenge to be green and save money. I would rather buy some crafting supplies than new clothes. And much of my fabrics are thrifted! Thank you for a thoughtful and good post. I am loving your blog.

Hi Kristina, I receive a crate with organic produce once a week too, but I suspect mine is really expensive. It costs 18 euros, here in Italy. May I ask how much do you pay, for comparison's sake?
Thanks

we share organic fruit and veg with our neighbours, (we pay 13.50€ each, ireland). we don't buy many other fruit/veg on top of it, usually just things that we need for a recipe that don't happen to be in the box that week, like peppers or mushrooms... we try to only buy free range chicken, and local beef, the potatoes we buy come from withing 5 miles from our house.
we try to keep the doors closed, and lights off in the rooms we don't use, we have a car but we don't use it everyday, i dry most clothes outside or on the radiators but i give in and dry bedlinen in the tumble dryer, and sometimes small things like knickers and socks, depends how much time i have.
cosmetics: tried aveda for a while but wasn't entirely convinced of the value for money, got a little trial kit from dr hauschka but not sure how much i'll like it i think their moisturisers are quite oily, and i'm not a fan of fussy cleansers. i try to buy soap bars rather than liquid soap that's probably the only green thing i do in terms of cosmetics...
it's only little things but i'm hoping if everybody does the little things and they become the normal thing then over time more can be done and it'll make a difference!
