Finally....
....I got myself a Nikon D40....about time too....will be reading the manual these days, not something I'm into. At all. And it took me almost a week to open the box and assembly the camera. And a few days to install the photo editing program. But now I'm all set. Taking lotsa, lotsa shots of my 2 favorite subjects. My boy. And my girl.

Can't wait to see what you come up with! I'm itching to buy a new camera - or at least go to a course on better photography...

It's always good to get a new camera and that one looks great! I just got a new camera too but still just a compact - but it does have a 10x optical zoom! I have been having fun trying it out!

Ooooh, I'm jealous! I wanted a Nikon dSLR (what you've got) but had to go with a point and shoot (Canon A570IS). The link in my nick is to one of the snaps I took of our patient dog.
I've used a Nikon D50 before...they are fantastic cameras. If you want to start taking pictures right away, don't bother with the detailed manual, just set it on auto and snap away.
Later on, if you want to get fancy, take a look at the different settings.
Happy Photographing! And cool site, by the way.
