Little Surprises

Dsc_0047

Jackie just sent me a hoooooge stack of prints and I just looooove them! I already have two of her owl prints and I highly recommend them - go check out her etsy shop. Some of my faves I got are the wise owl, made it! and the 70's bird!

Dsc_0050

Then Mette sent me another of her gorgeous Babushka dolls for my collection in my daughters room. It's the green checkered one. I just love her new Artista collection. (Oh, check out the hexagon bag she made - isn't it fab?)

Matte et Mati

Img_1812

I just bought this FAB print from Mati's etsy shop. I am such a fan of hers, so now I will take the long trip to IKEA for another frame for my wall and oh yes there is plenty of room for more wonderful art! I just found Matte Stephens etsy shop and I truly can't decide which print to get? They're all so great! And I must say he has an impeccable interior dec style....geez....

Img_1814

I got these books a long time ago and they're really inspiring. I'm not the only one to think so, take a peek here and here.

And of course a little jeu de paume for decorating my new apartment. (Can I still call it new after 2 months?)

Cozy Corner

Img_1496

I got my IKEA Ektorp corner sofa bed in white and I just love it!

I even got some of my art up - put it there myself, thank you very much. Shannon's gorgeous girls and Jackie's amazing lino cut prints, all of which I will love forever! A little piece of art by my son and a frame my daughter decorated. Also my own painting. The one that has gone bad from using the kids paint....duh!

Anyway, I am very pleased about our apartment so far and I hope to "finish up" pretty soon. I know I will always get new idea's for decorating, but for now, I would just like to be done....

Packing and Purchasing

Thank you everybody, for all your support!

It means soooo much to me, that I have this world - Blogland - and I can't stress this enough: It really helps me through this time in my life!

I have started to pack up my stuff. I started in my craft room and the attic. Phew....I sure have a lot of stuff.

I have also started to purchase some of the things, that I will need in our new place. Like towels and the likes on the above photo. The tea towels are from our trip to Sweden. I got them in Åhléns and they are muchos pretty. I need some more of them! I also got some of the fab fabrics below, that I've been yearning for, ever I since I laid my eyes on them the first time. They were actually the first thing I saw, when I stepped into the streets of Jönsköping! (From iems.)

Don't you just looove the part with Elisabeth's name? I totally freaked out, when I saw it! Oh, and by the way - she has opened an etsy shop, where you can buy her gorgeous print!

Like I Really Need a New Hobby....

Img_1290 Img_1304

Img_1295 Img_1303

I recently bought some new paint. See I've been using the kids poster paint and it is not good! The paintings I already made looks awful now...bah! I also got some new canvases and took a look at my Great Grandpas old paint box - isn't it marvelous? A lot of my ancestors have painted at some point in their lives and my Grandpas brother was living as an artist - I like that, I'm very intrigued, but I don't really need a new hobby, now do I?

(The "owl-Christmas-tree" print is made by Elisabeth - I SO, so love it! I will buy a black Ribba frame for it in IKEA and hang it on my wall - can hardly wait!)

Plastic Fantastic

Img_1026

I have a thing for little plastic characters. This is from the shelves in my daughters room. Barbapapas, an M&M's girl from a pack of M&M's, a thrifted Power Puff girl and Sesame Street lunch box and thermos, bought on ebay!

Img_1023 Img_0993

Snoopy is from McDonald's. He came in 3 Happy Meals 3 or 4 years ago. As you can see, he used to stand alone on my son's desk. No bird. But just the other day, we found the bird at the local indoor flea market. I was ECSTATIC! Oh and my son was pretty thrilled too ;o) See, I think mostly the "gifts" at McDonald's are crap (luckily we don't go there often - I really don't appreciate all the clutter of tiny crap toys), but once in a while I really love it. Like these Moomin cards......I say cool!

Img_1029

The lion poster is from MY room. It's from a play I went to see with my son, when he was all most 3. Lovely illustration.

Sunday came and left....

....and my 10::10 project TWO, was no where to be found. The poor dog is still laying around in tiny pieces, waiting to be stitched up. He'll be ready for next Sunday!

Meanwhile, here's my daughters new kicks. Same as big bros.

Img_0229 Img_0175

And her thrifted clogs. Got her those last year, but they weren't a hit until now. She's practicing. They seem very hard to walk in.

Img_0231

When we visited Grandma, her husband had made these of the kids - aren't they cool? Seriously, the man is a true artist and such an inspiration. He will be 80 this year and he is busy. Playing music and performing, learning new instruments, painting, working on the computer - all kinds of stuff. He's the man to ask, when you have questions about anything graphic/visual. These paintings are b/w photo copies of the kids, glued to canvas, washed with watercolor and painted afterwords.

I feel so lucky!

Fiskars Ad

Last year Alicia asked me, if I wanted to do a project for the Fiskars ad: "Story Journals." It sounded very interesting, so I said yes. I entered, along with 300+ people from around the world and had a very tight deadline. So with my Husband and kids out of the house, I got to work!

There were 12 questions that I had to answer "creatively," in my own expressions and on a page in a journal provided by Fiskars, with any materials I wanted.

It was so much fun! And kinda tough too. I never worked with a deadline like that before.

Here are some of the pages I entered. They will not be used in the campaign though, but it was such a great experience!

5

::Draw a line across the middle of the page. On the top half, express what the world was like before the advent of sewing/quilting. On the bottom, express how the world is different because of the "invention" of sewing/quilting::

6

::Using any means, show us what it feels like when you find an inspiring idea or visual that triggers a moment of inspiration that you can't wait to apply to your sewing/quilting::

7

::Show us what you are thinking and feeling when you get lost in thought inside your favorite fabric or craft store::

8_1

::Imagine your current sewing/quilting project as a person. Show us what that relationship with him or her would be like::

Draw, Drew, Drawings

I like drawing this girl. I don't know who she is - got any suggestions?

I'm very into naive drawings like this. Mine could have been drawn buy any kid though ;o) The ones with various cut out paper dresses, are totally "stolen" from my funny friend Shannon!

I don't know what *My Girls* are up to, but I feel they have snook up on me and there will be more of them. They are very vivid in my mind!

Img_6891

These were drawn by my son. He made more than these. They all say his name with an arrow pointing at the dinosaur. Should I worry?

;o)

Paris Part Two

::BOOKS & MAGAZINES::

Img_6741 Img_6753

Well I did buy me a little something in Paris. I have *a thing* for books and magazines, as you might have noticed..hm hm....I went to a few bookstores and especially loved this one:

Img_6365

I got "Paris chic & trendy" which shows pics from all the cool shops, including Vanessa Bruno, Paul & Joe, Isabel Marant and Les Prairies de Paris.

Of course I got me a few copies of Milk magazine and I SERIOUSLY intend to subscribe! (Even though I CAN buy it in Copenhagen.)

I found two wonderfully illustrated books by Beatrice Alemagna: "Un lion á Paris" and "Mon Amour." Absolutely LOVELY illustrations.

Img_6745 Img_6750

Finally I got me a calender by Wolf Erlbruch who also did "The Story of the Little Mole Who Knew It Was None of His Business", which is called: " The story of the mole who wanted to know who made a shit on his head" in Danish! I loved that book and I love this calender. This is my month ;o)
